"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", this statement is very true. This is where the Students' Union Government, SUG comes in; in the government, we have different offices like the the welfare director, sport director, social director to mention a few. Activities like football competitions, pre matric parties, quiz competitions, valentine specials are done semester by semester.
Some students are introverts, they do not associate themselves with such things but there is every need to relax your muscles after a stressful semsester. It doesn't mean you are less serious with your studies but it means you can balance your mental and physical lifestyle.
Other activities like elections(SUG's) is another essential activity to partake in, for any student to be elected, he or she must have a good grade, that means, even while having fun, studies and seriousness has a major role. Social activities enhances the psychological health most importantly, during a very tensed period. It's okay to act all matured but there's always that bad day every student face in school and the best solution at that time would be partying. You can party, dance and drink but do it with caution. For every fun you have, remember to adjust your time table so as to be in line with your activities.
THE OTHER SIDE OF SOCIALIZING IN SCHOOL.
As much as there's the good side, the bad side isn't left out. Too much of everything is bad, it applies to this as well. You could be carried away with politics especially, engaging in all sorts of campaigns and seminars, risking good grades for responsibilities; in this case, you stand in chance in earning failure, it's all rosy when you check results and do not have a cause to cry but the other way around could be so disheartening. Socializing bring friends closer but can take studying farther, it's a must for every student to once in a while turn down offers to have merry if it's not the end of the semester.
The good side of socializing, it creates this peace of mind. When worries of the stressful days are put behind and fun is brought forward, it keeps optimism pumping. "One road doesn't lead to the market", you might not really make use of your certificate after school but connection you have made by connecting and making bonds with people of value. It is good to party but make sure your studies doesn't pay the price.
HOW TO CURB SOCIAL INVITATIONS.
It would be very difficult to turn down a friend's invitation to a party. Do not say "yes" to any invitation at the risk of your study time. Curbing such an invitation could prove so arrogant in a sense that your friends would misjudge you and your actions because of the fact that you have become so proud and engrossed in your studies but follow these steps to earn self respect and a "no" to invitations.
1. MAKE YOURSELF UNAVAILABLE.
When there's a party, make sure to switch your phone and isolate yourself if you won't be chanced to attend. For no reason should you show up and hurriedly want to leave because gatherings could be very enticing and distracting.
2. GIVE AN EXCUSE BEFOREHAND.
Telling your friend beforehand helps a lot because hopes of you attending would have been high. You understand your friend better and maintaining a balanced ground won't be difficult.
3. HELP IN ORGANIZING BEFORE BACKING OUT.
You could plan the party and still not attend. Play your role as a friend by being supportive so your absence would be justified.
Your presence shouldn't be the life of any party and if it is, then, your private and leisure time would be busy like the parties.
