UTILIZING POTENTIALS WHILE IN NIGERIA UNIVERSITY

The dream and goal is to finish excellently, no doubt but along the way, there are hurdles to overcome. Financial, physical and psychological hurdles. No matter how calm a sea is, there might just be a storm waiting around the corner and to overcome such storm, there's a need for an experienced sailor. Education is the sea of knowledge and moral and no matter how easy and stress-free it might become, there might be a challenge looming around the corner and it only takes a well made and experienced student to overcome such.

HOW TO OVERCOME FINANCIAL HURDLES.

Potentials are what you are capable of doing, be it a talent or skill but something that yields productivity. You can only harness your potentials by constant practice and usage.

1. SKILL ACQUISITION.

There is a need for skill acquisition, learning a trade. It is essential for every student to be hard-working, a solid financial foundation should be maintained. Get yourself equipped by learning a trade, be it hair making, arts and crafts, photography, just to mention a few that can fetch money during free time especially holidays and make sure to always save for the challenging days ahead.

2. CONTENTMENT.

Do not for any reason be envious. You are in a school environment, you see different kinds of people from different backgrounds higher than yours and get to see their extravagant lifestyle. Of course, everyone needs and craves for comfort but harness your potential by turning a blind eye to such things. It can be very difficult but it takes discipline and utmost courage to do so. Always be satisfied with what you have.

3. SAVE MONEY

You would get books, handouts, materials and pay dues, that is enough reason to avoid unnecessary spending of money. Internet subscription is another factor that requires money, if you do not have enough cash for the month, avoud data-sucking sites that do not add relevance to your academic life. Save your money always but eat good food for necessary growth, but do not spend extravagantly on junks. Do not try to show off to the opposite gender and maintain a low-key profile.

HOW TO OVERCOME PHYSICAL HURDLES.

Stress is very common in the system. After sacrificing sleep for study, you would come to class early and leave late after much mental stress. Of course, the body is not a stone as it requires rest and having a health challenge is a very deteriorating occurrence in the system.

1. CREATE TIME TO REST.

Give yourself the leverage to rest. The days of no lecture should be days of 50% of rest, it is quite alarming that during examination periods, there are high cases of getting sick. If proper rest is not taken at intervals of study and work, the repercussion can be dangerous.

2. LOOK GOOD

You are a student, everyone should know this by just seeing you. There is a confidence that comes with looking good and presentable. It gives room for healthy relationships between you and strangers as it enhances your self esteem. Self esteem is very important, having a high and positive esteem erase thoughts of depression. Make sure to always look good no matter what.

 3. DO NOT PLAY WITH YOUR HEALTH.

If you have a slight headache, treat it. You don't feel good, visit the health center. For no reason should you overlook health challenges. Eat fruits and drink enough water; if possible, have a portable flask for chilled water or juice in your bag against harsh weather conditions.

HOW TO OVERCOME PSYCHOLOGICAL HURDLES.

Your psychological welfare is very important and should be kept in check always. It is not easy being a student because parents/guardians would be expecting the best from you, high rate of expectancy from everybody can make a student frustrated as it's not easy passing and very easy to fail.

1. BE OPTIMISTIC.

Keep a positive mindset about everything. If things are not going according to your will, you can always take a break, breath and meditate, take your mind off it and mingle with your friends. Being a serious student doesn't mean you shouldn't be lively, take out time for strolls and have healthy conversations with happy people. Even when results are being released, believe in your potential during the exam period and have a positive mindset about your result. Do not give room for fear as it makes blood pressure so high it can cause something you cannot afford to handle.

2. SHUT OUT GOSSIP.

Of course, not everyone is your friend and serious students are seen as proud people. Talks would circulate and fingers would be pointed. It takes a well disciplined student to mind his or her business during this time. Turn a deaf ear to such because it tampers a lot with your mental being as it gives room for a low self esteem.

3. HAVE AN ALONE TIME WITH YOURSELF.

Sit and meditate, evaluate your performance socially and academically and give strategies on improvement. You deserve a stress free and less burdensome life, live life while schooling. Take yourself out, get gifts for yourself and appreciate the little things you have.

Having values and sticking to them is one potential a lot of students lack, harness your potential in everything you do. You are worth more than you are.

HOW TO GET BEST PROJECTS AND DEFENSE IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.

Classes upon classes, tutorials upon tutorials and finally, you would reach a stage where a project would be introduced. A project is a research given to students by their supervisors concerning their fields of study. It is a compulsory credit unit course for all intending graduating students. Project topics, depending on the department are mostly developed during the students internship, in other cases, the project supervisor suggests or recommends a topic to their student. While in a fewer cases, the topic could be the student's idea right from their first year in school.  The idea of projects is to test the student's readiness to solving real life and industry based problems.
