Industrial Training(I.T.) is a training in preparation for the real deal - the after-school deal that lasts for a specific period of time. It gets to a level (the 2nd semester in the 3rd year in the university setting and the 2nd year in the polytechnic setting) when students would look for industries or companies where they could go for professional and intense against leaving the school for the real deal, they would work for some months, get paid and always keep the school in touch along the way by making detailed reports that would be submitted at the end of the training.
Having a standard industrial training is an addition to one's career. Majority of times, students are paid salaries for their hardwork. In this modern day and time, it can prove to be very difficult to see a company that is ready to accept and pay a good sum of money. There are students who uses the man-know-man connection and others that works their way into the system.
FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN GOING FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING.
There are things to put in place before embarking on your industrial training, you cannot just wake up one morning, pack your bags and leave for the location. In as much as the school sends you on an official assignment, they are not responsible for your decisions as they only follow what you have brought before them and guide you along the way.
1. THE ORGANIZATION.
Make proper investigation of the company and how it is run before venturing into it. Know the rules and regulations and see if it goes well with you or not. Make sure it's favorable in both the stress, workload and salary because you would be spending at least six months there.
2. THE DURATION OF THE TRAINING.
You need to take into cognizance the period of time you would undergo the training because some organizations would want to keep you there for more time by either holding back your benefits or delaying to sign your report(the book or document you'd take back to your institution at the final tail of your training) because of your effectiveness or could be as a result of any misfortune. State your time limit and make sure to always remind them every month.
3. THE LOCATION.
Due to insecurity, it is better to have your training very close to human settlements. Every course has its own firm it can fit into. Knowing this, take your time to look for a very favorable environment, ask around and use your connection well.
Every student in every department would undergo such training. It is very difficult to handle because it requires extreme and professional approaches. You could as well be preparing right from your second year in school but the ability to cope has to deal with your mental and physical strength. You'd have superiors, different kinds of bosses and be stripped away from the university setting, thereby subjecting you to a high level of inconveniences.
