In as much as the classroom is important, field work is as important. The system gives rise to opportunities for students to function well practically. We have different departments in the school and they have their different field works. A field trip is a journey to sites related to the choice of course, it has to do with the practical use of what has been taught in the classroom.
Field trips exposes not only the mind to the beauty of the course but the body to the joy and stress that comes with it, making students prepare beforehand. It is so essential because some organizations are only interested in the practical aspects and not necessarily the theoretical aspects. The weather of the location (where the field trip is situated) can be a major factor as well as availability of food because it might not really be a one-day stay. The following must be taken note of when going on a field trip:
1. TAKE PROPER CLOTHING.
You cannot predict the weather, so aside the normal "suit-up" needed for your exploration, take both light and heavy clothing but make sure to pack light due to the stress of having to carry a heavy bag pack for hours.
2. GET ENOUGH SNACKS AND WATER.
This is where the idea of taking a bag pack comes in, each compartment should serve a purpose and the biggest compartment should be for cloth, the second biggest should be for snacks and water. You are not going to the field to have fun and pleasure, it is strictly work-wise and the certainty that restaurants would be available is slim, so, get handy snacks and enough water.
3. ALWAYS STAY CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER.
If you are not too familiar with the location, do not go astray all in the name of taking pictures or wanting to become adventurous. Stay with your group and obey instructions. Do not wander off, be so smart and diligent in all you do.
4. TAKE NOTES OF THINGS.
Some students go for field trips to just play around and do not take note of anything. Going on field trips is an exposure to what can and cannot be taught in the classroom, it is no different to the normal educative setting but it's just the change of location. Pay serious attention, ask questions and have notes where you can jot things down.
5. EAT LIGHT BEFORE LEAVING.
Yes and yes, do not overfeed as you do not know the state of the restrooms of where you might lodge in and cannot gamble stopping midway in the journey in search of where to clear your stomach. Eat light, plug in your ear buds, listen to cool songs and enjoy the ride.
Field trips are important, do not joke with them. Have fun and meet new people, create connections and make friends because you might never know what a blessing in disguise the experience is in the future. Make it a point of responsibility to be very active in everything that would be done.
