Growing up and having professional dreams of having to wear a coverall, wig, labcoat and white collared shirt. Every dream starts with education.
Education is the best legacy, going through the "pampering" stages of pre-primary, "welcoming" stages of primary, "exhausting" stages of secondary school and the "stimulating" stages of the university/polytechnic.
The joy of going to school in the mornings, the pride on mama's face whilst dressing her lads for the day's job, the extra mile teachers went through to make younger ones understand and the steady grins on faces when the closing bell is being rung made childhood fun.
Of course, the four walls of the school could be tiring and boring but the spark in tummies when discovering new things shine brighter than the stars. Nigerian educational system is such that every students would be stretched to his or her full capacity coupled with the harsh environment and weather; the population of students somehow determines the efficiency of teachers. In a private school where fees are high, there would be lesser students in the class unlike the public school where students are much due to the free education government gave.
Waking up to Mondays could be annoying for every students for every 7am alarm is a new beginning of 7 days strenuous activities. There's always a dilemma of missing school on days of lateness because discipline is very essential as every late comer would be subjected to a task as a form of punishment.
*BEING A STAR IN SCHOOL.*
Going out for competitions, be it quiz or debate is one feat for every student, the pride coming home after a tough war and accolades being received is actually a legacy for the student. It adds to every winners' database as he or she would e entitled for a leadership position as every class' development occurs.
In the aspect of leadership, there's what is called "prefectship", a leadership post where students get to make their voices heard and change some certain things in the school.
Graduating from a class to another is another ecstasy, it is well known that private school students hardly repeat and a very high record of students repeat in public schools but that doesn't stop the fact that students from both sector fight academically, so desperately to be able to walk majestically when their names are being called out to receive presents for their hardwork at the end of the term and for those that does not receive any, it pumps their morale to do better.
Coming to the university setting, the four walls of education screams freedom and examination. After passing the normal ordinary level examination, known as WAEC(West African Examination Council), JAMB(Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board), as well as the chosen university's/polytechnic's examination, known as POSTUTME(Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination), every student would jump on the opportunity of being free from parents' constant monitors and dream of having a first class degree but Rome wasn't built in a day, having a first class in the university can be very tough as classes would e advanced and lectures would be tough. Distractions play a major role during the stay in the university as every faculty or department would throw parties and other exciting events.
