EDUCATION IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT IN NIGERIA.

Schooling is very demanding and sometimes, the factors that come with me are not favorable. Nigeria is a country where the minimum wage is pegged at the sum of thirty thousand naira and little or no school have their tuition pegged around this amount. Most tertiary institutions if not all have tuition fees above the minimum wage.

It is therefore worthy to note that not everybody can afford education safe for those who earn well above the minimum wage. Some parents struggle to see their ward through the tertiary institutions despite the fact that most available institutions which are government owned have subsidized tuition, it is still very difficult for a class of persons to afford the cost of going to school. Some persons who fall into this category are orphans, those whose parents are unemployed or artisans and in a few cases government workers.

Besides the cost of tuition, another hurdle is the cost of feeding, hostel accommodation and stationery. Many a time, parents as well as students spend a whole lot on tuition and fail to plan for other things that might serve as contingencies for the student. Note that no discomfort student will be able to learn in school, talk more of passing examinations.

The priority of prominence for anybody in school is comfort. Without it, nothing will be achieved as the students might eventually lose their sanity. In a situation where some of the student’s need to be met immediately, it is advisable for the student to engage themselves in gigs that will fetch them money and help them attain a level of financial stability so as to cater for some of this basic needs without having to do anything injurious to themselves and the society they live in.

There are so many things students can indulge in to fetch money for themselves. They include but are not limited to the following

1. WRITING.

Writing is one of the leading ways students earn money. It could be a blog, fiction, journals, journalism, poetry. Writing is a skill that can be learned and mastered within a very short period of time. There’s always someone out there ready to read your work.

2. COMPUTER PROGRAMMING.

In a world where almost nothing is done without the aid of a computer programming language, it is really a wise thing to tap into this gig. Programming is very easy to learn. It can be learned over a very short period of time. Students who have a certification in programmi can monetize their skill.

3. TUTORING.

In a world where everyone do not have the same capacity of learning or assimilation. A more intelligent student can decide to run tutorials for his/her colleague or junior students and fetch themselves money.

4. RUNNING A TRADE.

Running a trade these days require not too many resources. These days, there are so many vendors on the internet who sell their wares to people. Social media has really made a lot of things very easy. A student can market themselves or their product easily on the social media and starting such businesses require a very little capital to start.

The list is not limited to the above mentioned list. Whatever is right according to the law that can fetch you money, so long you can do it, do it.

HOW TO REDUCE THE SOCIAL LIFE IN THE ACADEMIC SETTING

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", this statement is very true. This is where the Students' Union Government, SUG comes in; in the government, we have different offices like the the welfare director, sport director, social director to mention a few. Activities like football competitions, pre matric parties, quiz competitions, valentine specials are done semester by semester.     Some students are introverts, they do not associate themselves with such things but there is every need to relax your muscles after a stressful semsester. It doesn't mean you are less serious with your studies but it means you can balance your mental and physical lifestyle.     Other activities like elections(SUG's) is another essential activity to partake in, for any student to be elected, he or she must have a good grade, that means, even while having fun, studies and seriousness has a major role. Social activities enhances the psychological health most imp...

HOW TO GET BEST PROJECTS AND DEFENSE IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.

Classes upon classes, tutorials upon tutorials and finally, you would reach a stage where a project would be introduced. A project is a research given to students by their supervisors concerning their fields of study. It is a compulsory credit unit course for all intending graduating students. Project topics, depending on the department are mostly developed during the students internship, in other cases, the project supervisor suggests or recommends a topic to their student. While in a fewer cases, the topic could be the student's idea right from their first year in school.  The idea of projects is to test the student's readiness to solving real life and industry based problems. This is done by collating data about the project, juxtaposition of facts and figures, identifying problems and proferring solution. Offering possible recommendations where necessary. In other ways, students make research to solve industry based problems. The project starts when a supervisor assign a top...

WASTE RECYCLING IN NIGERIA INSTITUTION

Environmental pollution is a perennial problem to man. The culture of having to dispose waste properly in such a way that it is less or not harmful to the society is a practice that have really come a long way. However, over time disposing of waste, both organic and inorganic in one way or the other pose threat to man’s existence as non biodegradable waste such as plastic, glass, metal, tires, textile, batteries, electronics and paper do not decompose but remain in their physical form and pose huge threat of pollution to both land and aquatic habitats.         Hence, the idea of recycling was introduced. Recycling is the collection of already used component materials for break down and reuse. Recycling starts with the proper collection of the waste. Most times, the waste are collected in separate bins or packages. For example plastic waste are collected differently from paper waste and in other cases were they are collected together, t...
